Vehicle Controls Engineer – Hybrid Loaders

Develop and validate embedded vehicle-control strategies for hybrid mining loaders, with occasional travel up to 25% and office-based work plus visits to prototype, testing, and manufacturing environments. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Title: Vehicle Controls Engineer
Location: Peachtree City, GA
Salary: $115K -160K/yr
Type: Fulltime

Summary:

A leading heavy equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Vehicle Controls Engineer to develop, simulate, and validate advanced control strategies for hybrid mining loaders. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of controls engineering, electrification, and off-highway technology while helping improve machine performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliability.
You'll collaborate with software, hardware, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to bring innovative vehicle-control solutions from development through calibration and real-world testing.

About the Role
The Vehicle Controls Engineer will develop and optimize embedded vehicle-control strategies for hybrid mining loaders, including power distribution, hybrid mode transitions, energy recovery, and diagnostic protections. The role involves model-based controls, simulation, calibration, and vehicle-level validation.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience developing embedded control strategies for electrified vehicles or off-highway machinery, along with a strong understanding of hybrid energy management and vehicle control systems.

Work Environment
This is primarily an office-based engineering role involving computer-aided design, analysis, simulation, and engineering reviews, with occasional visits to prototype, testing, and manufacturing environments. These visits may involve standing, walking, PPE, and exposure to noise, moving equipment, or varying temperatures.

Travel: Occasional travel, up to 25%.
