CAREER OPPORTUNITY:

The Electrical Project Engineer's responsibility includes planning, organizing, developing, and executing capital engineering projects within constraints of specific project scope and target schedule. The successful candidate will need experience in project management with technical skills to coordinate a variety of disciplines within the Engineering Department, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering Firms, Vendors and Contractors. The position also requires supporting and managing tasks associated with Management of Change projects for maintenance and operations.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:
  • Perform and or manage all Front End Planning and Detailed Design engineering for approved capital projects with the objective of meeting technical, cost, schedule, and safety goals
  • Execute aspects of project procurement and vendor/contractor management

  • Outlines project requirements and provide technical assistance on capital projects from design through completion and commissioning

  • Inspect completed installations and ensure that all projects are installed per applicable regulatory codes (OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, etc.)
  • Comply with corporate project standards and reporting timelines
  • Coordinate outside resources to assist with operational improvements

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing with Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required
  • Project management experience, PMP Certification a plus but not required
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills with a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing conflicts through collaboration and consensus building
  • JDE Experience Preferred
  • Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience
  • Experience in four or more of the following areas:

o Power distribution systems

o Process instrumentation systems

o Process Design

o Distributed control systems

o Programmable logic controllers

o Coordinated drive systems

o Variable speed AC and DC drives

o Low and medium voltage motor control centers
  • Support safety and environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of short circuit, arc flash and load calculations
  • Familiarity with EasyPower or ETAP

The salary range for this position is $95,625.00 - $159,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
