Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support healthcare, municipal, and higher education projects. This role involves leading mechanical and plumbing system design from concept through construction, including client coordination and overall project management.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts across all project phases
- Coordinate with clients and manage RFIs, change orders, and site visits
- Develop mechanical, process, and plumbing system designs
- Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details
- Organize construction drawings, technical specifications, and estimates
- Develop cost estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and project schedules
- Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes
- Chilled water, refrigeration, and ammonia systems
- Compressed air systems
- Plumbing and fire protection
- Boiler, steam, and hot water distribution systems
- HVAC systems
- Water and wastewater systems
- Equipment specification and evaluation
- Life cycle cost analysis and energy modeling
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (U.S. accredited)
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience in a consulting firm
- Strong HVAC design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- PE license in Illinois highly preferred
