ES - Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student

Supports capital improvement projects, engineering studies, and project scope development for refinery and terminal operations. Requires a Mechanical Engineering student in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year, a valid Canadian driver's license, and MS Office knowledge; Excel and AutoCAD are assets.

As a Mechanical Engineering Student, you will support the development of capital improvement projects by applying engineering principles to evaluate business opportunities, develop project scopes, and contribute to multidisciplinary project development activities at the Saint John Refinery and Canadian terminals.

The Engineering Services team supports the development and execution of capital projects that improve the safety, reliability, and performance of our operations. The team sits within our Home Office as part of our Engineering Services business group, working closely with stakeholders across the refinery and terminal network.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of capital improvement projects at the Saint John Refinery and terminals.
  • Assist with engineering studies and evaluations to assess business opportunities and project viability.
  • Contribute to project scope development, including technical requirements, cost estimates, and deliverables.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to analyze equipment, processes, and operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support projects from concept through execution planning. Gain knowledge of refinery and terminal operations while supporting initiatives that improve safety, reliability, and performance.

Your Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with Excel is an asset
  • Experience using AutoCAD is an asset
  • Valid Canadian driver's license

Your Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering completing 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study
