Job Description: Electrical Controls Engineer

CTS is looking to hire a Controls Engineer to run and support multi-million-dollar custom automation projects, primarily focused on leak testing.

Cincinnati Test Systems is a leading expert in the design and manufacturing of custom automated test and measurement machinery. This is a mid-level position, capable of designing and troubleshooting complex electrical functions while working independently. The ideal candidate should be flexible and able to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies as required by custom specifications. The candidate must also have excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to work on cross-functional/interdepartmental teams.

Controls Engineer Job Duties
  • Responsible for design, commissioning, and programming of machinery through full project life cycle
  • Design electrical and pneumatic systems for automation production environments
  • Program from-scratch robust PLC and HMI applications to meet customer specifications
  • Collaborate with customers to evaluate and understand specifications as they pertain to custom test equipment
  • Hands on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and software issues for equipment debug
  • Analyze collected data to determine performance and effectiveness of test equipment
  • Help innovate new ideas to improve CTS as an OEM and great place to work

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. 5+ years in related field.
  • Experience designing and programming automated machinery, working in manufacturing and production environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC, HMI programming. Experience with Siemens PLC a plus.
  • Strong understanding of machine safety and safe design practices

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with production environments in the medical and automotive sectors
  • Knowledge of developing motion systems such as VFDs, servos, vision systems such as Keyence
  • Familiar with production SCADA systems such as Ignition or Wonderware
