Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior EHS Manager to lead and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs across manufacturing operations. The role will develop strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, drive risk reduction, and foster a safety-first culture to protect people, property, and the environment while supporting production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies for manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including OSHA, EPA, DOT where applicable).
  • Lead incident investigation and root-cause analysis; implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring incidents and safety risks.
  • Conduct regular site EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments; track findings and follow up to closure with measurable metrics.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership to integrate EHS considerations into process design, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage permit applications, regulatory reporting, and interactions with regulatory agencies; ensure timely submissions and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all levels of the organization to build competency and maintain certifications.
  • Drive occupational health programs including industrial hygiene monitoring, exposure assessments, and medical surveillance coordination.
  • Oversee contractor safety programs and ensure contractors meet site EHS requirements.
  • Prepare and present EHS performance metrics, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership and site management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and corrective improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; Masters degree or CSP/CIH certification preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing environments with demonstrated leadership and program development experience.
  • Proven knowledge and application of EHS management systems, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT preferred).
  • Experience in high-hazard industries such as aerospace, metals, or heavy industrial manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to influence operations and senior leaders, manage multiple sites or large facilities, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report preparation, training development, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Proficiency with EHS software, incident reporting systems, and Microsoft Office; experience implementing continuous improvement tools (e.g., root cause, CAPA, Lean/Six Sigma) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel between plant sites as required and to participate in emergency response when needed.
