Field Service Technician - Industrial Boilers/Combustion Systems

  • Direct Hire/Perm
  • Location - Based out of Northern/Central Alabama with regular regional travel and work onsite at customer locations throughout the region ( Local travel, not more than a handful of overnights per quarter)

Are you a hands-on technician with a knack for diagnosing and repairing complex industrial boiler/combustion systems?

We're seeking a Field Service Boiler Technician to join a specialized team supporting industrial steam and hot water systems across the Northern Alabama area, and covering the rest of the state, and northern MS, as/when needed.

We DO NOT have a facility in the area, so you will not be required to be onsite at a plant/facility when not visiting client sites.

This is a travel-based role requiring regular visits to customer facilities for on-site service, troubleshooting, and repair of high-pressure boiler and burner systems.

You'll be the frontline expert ensuring uptime and safety for mission-critical equipment in manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, universities, and utilities. If you thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy solving mechanical and combustion challenges in the field, this opportunity is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial boilers, burners, and combustion control systems.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, emergency service calls, and code-compliant repairs.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and combustion curves to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal support teams and customer personnel to ensure safe and efficient system operation.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Travel regionally to customer sites across Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and surrounding areas.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience servicing industrial boiler and combustion systems (steam, hot water, and specialty applications).
  • Strong understanding of NFPA, IRI, Factory Mutual, and OSHA standards.
  • Skilled in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, including flame safeguard systems and burner controls.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally.
  • Technical certifications or trade school training in boiler systems, HVAC, or industrial maintenance are a plus.
  • PLC programming/controls experience is a PLUS.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, with an hourly rate being offered in the $30-45/hour range, perhaps a bit more for SENIOR and VERY targeted professionals.
  • We offer a Company vehicle/work truck and tools provided for field service work, but if your own vehicle is used, we offer compensation.
  • Overtime /Doubletime pay opportunities available.
  • Opportunities for technical training and certification
  • Supportive team culture with 24/7 dispatch and technical backup
