Senior Electrical Engineer - RFSoC

Lead RF and mixed-signal electronics design for aerospace and satellite systems, including RFSoC, ADC/DAC, PCB/PCBA, FPGA integration, verification, and documentation. Requires 5+ years in mixed-signal design, a degree in EE or related field, and U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.

Senior Mixed Signals Engineer - RFSoC

Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design and integration of RF and mixed-signal electronics for mission-critical aerospace and satellite systems. The role focuses on RFSoC-based solutions, high-speed data converters (ADC/DAC), mixed-signal PCB/PCBA design, and FPGA firmware integration to meet stringent performance, reliability and ECSS/avionics standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design and implementation of mixed-signal and RF systems using RFSoC platforms, and ADC/DACs.
  • Develop and review mixed-signal PCB and PCBA designs, including component selection, signal integrity, power distribution, and layout for RF and high-speed digital sections (DDR, PCIe).
  • Develop and integrate FPGA firmware and software for RFSoC, using tools such as Vivado, Vitis and PetaLinux where applicable.
  • Implement JESD204 interfaces and ensure robust high-speed data paths between converters and FPGAs.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, RF engineers and mechanical teams to define requirements, perform trade studies and support system integration for spacecraft, satellite and avionics applications.
  • Plan and execute verification, validation and test campaigns, including RF characterization, mixed-signal functional tests and environmental qualification to meet ECSS and mission-critical standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, design reviews, test procedures, and compliance artifacts for aerospace certification.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, review designs, and drive continuous improvement in design practices and tools.
  • Engage with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support PCBA fabrication, assembly and test, and resolve production issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PhD a plus.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in mixed-signal electronics design with a strong emphasis on RF and high-speed digital systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with RFSoC platforms and integrating ADCs/DACs in system designs.
  • Strong PCB/PCBA design experience for mixed-signal and RF circuits; proficiency with Altium or similar layout tools.
  • Experience with FPGA development flows and toolchains (Vivado, Vitis); PetaLinux experience is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of JESD204, DDR, and PCIe interfaces and associated signal integrity practices.
  • Solid understanding of RF principles, radiofrequency circuit design and measurements.
  • Experience in aerospace, satellite, spacecraft, avionics or other mission-critical systems and familiarity with ECSS standards preferred.
  • Familiarity with AMD/Xilinx device families and tool ecosystems.
  • Proven debugging, test and validation skills, including RF test equipment and methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams, and prior experience mentoring junior engineers.

Benefits

  • Equity
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401K with match
  • PTO
