Environmental Associate Attorney

Starting Salary: $180,000 - $220,000

I'm partnering with a highly regarded environmental law practice seeking an attorney who wants to build a sophisticated environmental practice in the Pacific Northwest. This is an opportunity to work on complex contaminated-site matters, environmental litigation, redevelopment projects, regulatory compliance issues, and high-stakes business transactions involving environmental risk.

The Opportunity

This role offers exposure to a broad range of environmental matters spanning litigation, regulatory counseling, transactional support, and remediation projects. You'll advise clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and public entities to privately held businesses and individuals on some of the region's most significant environmental challenges.

The practice is particularly known for its work involving contaminated properties, environmental cleanup obligations, natural resource damage claims, redevelopment projects, and environmental liability allocation.

What You'll Do

  • Advise clients on state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Handle matters involving contaminated properties, brownfield redevelopment, and environmental cleanups.
  • Represent clients in litigation involving environmental liabilities, cost recovery actions, and regulatory disputes.
  • Work on transactions involving the acquisition, sale, and redevelopment of environmentally impacted properties.
  • Counsel clients regarding obligations under the Washington Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).
  • Assist with environmental insurance coverage and related claims.
  • Support matters involving natural resource damages, Clean Water Act disputes, and cost allocation proceedings.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams on complex environmental projects.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of environmental law experience.
  • Strong background in environmental litigation, regulatory counseling, transactional work, or a combination of these areas.
  • Experience with, or significant exposure to, MTCA and CERCLA matters.
  • Interest in environmental insurance claims, cost recovery litigation, and environmental liability allocation.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and teamwork.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced practice and can manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Washington.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join a nationally recognized environmental practice with a strong reputation in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Handle sophisticated and high-profile environmental matters from day one.
  • Gain meaningful client contact and responsibility.
  • Work alongside respected environmental attorneys in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Enjoy a practice mix that combines litigation, regulatory work, and business transactions.
