Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to design, model, and deliver HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects. The role focuses on engineering design, Revit/BIM modeling, piping and equipment selection, and coordination with architects, clients, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, code-compliant systems from schematic design through construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC and mechanical system designs, including load calculations, equipment selection, and system schematics.
- Create detailed mechanical and piping drawings and models using Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
- Prepare equipment schedules, specifications, and technical submittals; evaluate vendor data and performance.
- Perform piping layout, routing and isometric preparation; coordinate piping systems with other trades to avoid clashes.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IMC, local building codes) and company QA/QC processes.
- Collaborate with project teams, architects, electrical and structural engineers to resolve design issues and coordinate interfaces.
- Provide construction administration and field support during installation, testing, and commissioning; review RFIs and shop drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate system performance and energy efficiency.
- Participate in client meetings, present design concepts, respond to technical inquiries, and support proposals and estimates.
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee design quality, schedules, and documentation control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or working toward licensure.
- 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical/HVAC engineering; experience with commercial or industrial projects.
- Strong experience with Revit (BIM) for mechanical systems modeling and coordination.
- Proven experience designing HVAC systems, ductwork, and hydronic/piping systems.
- Proficiency with engineering calculation methods and software (e.g., HAP, Trace, Carrier, or similar) and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, SMACNA, local codes).
- Experience preparing specifications, equipment schedules, and technical submittals.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to perform occasional field visits and construction site coordination.
