HVAC Project Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Project Manager to lead commercial HVAC and mechanical projects from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, sheet metal and fabrication with proven project management skills to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of commercial HVAC and mechanical projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost control measures to ensure financial performance and timely delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and contract documents; ensure timely responses and proper documentation.
  • Coordinate design reviews and work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, fabricators, and owners to resolve technical issues and ensure constructability.
  • Oversee installation of piping, sheet metal, ductwork, and HVAC equipment; supervise field staff and subcontractors to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage fabrication efforts and shop drawings, ensuring coordination between field and shop to minimize rework and delays.
  • Enforce safety, quality control, and compliance with codes, standards, and company policies on all job sites.
  • Conduct regular site visits, progress meetings, and stakeholder communications; prepare reports and present project status to senior management and clients.
  • Implement risk management practices and proactively address schedule or cost variances through mitigation plans.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction activities including value engineering, constructability reviews, and budgeting for new work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial HVAC/mechanical construction with direct responsibility for managing projects of moderate to large size.
  • Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, piping, sheet metal, ductwork, and fabrication processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with project financials including budgeting, cost control, accounting basics, and managing change orders.
  • Proven ability to manage RFIs, submittals, and coordinate with design teams and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software (scheduling, estimating, document control); familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit or BIM is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or OSHA 30 are desirable.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
