Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MEP/HVAC Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects from pre-construction through closeout. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget and to required quality standards by managing design coordination, procurement, subcontractors and construction activities across mechanical, electrical, piping and plumbing scopes. This role requires strong technical knowledge, construction experience and proven project management skills in commercial building environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage MEP/HVAC projects from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout, ensuring scope, schedule and budget objectives are met.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules, budgets, forecasts and progress reports; proactively identify and mitigate risks to cost and timeline.
  • Coordinate design review and constructability input with engineers, architects and trade partners to resolve technical issues and optimize MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing).
  • Oversee procurement and materials management, including vendor evaluation, orders, expediting and logistics to support timely installation.
  • Manage subcontractors and internal field teams; define scopes of work, enforce contract compliance, conduct performance reviews and resolve disputes.
  • Implement and enforce site safety, quality control and commissioning procedures; work with safety teams to maintain compliance with local codes and company policies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, consultants and stakeholders; provide regular updates, address concerns and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Perform site supervision and periodic inspections to ensure installation meets drawings, specifications and industry standards; coordinate testing, balancing and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare and review change orders, claims and progress billings; maintain accurate project documentation, RFI logs, submittals and as-built records.
  • Mentor and develop junior project staff; foster collaboration between estimating, design, field operations and service teams to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred; technical diploma with substantial experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 510 years of progressive experience managing commercial MEP/HVAC construction projects; demonstrated experience across mechanical, electrical, piping and plumbing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, hydronic/piping design, controls, electrical distribution and plumbing systems, plus applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Proven project management skills including schedule and budget management, change order administration and risk mitigation; PMP or similar certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with construction software (MS Project, Primavera or similar), Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and maintain client relationships.
  • Experience with commissioning, testing and balancing processes and quality assurance programs.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, subcontractor management and commercial contracting terms; strong understanding of cost estimating and value engineering.
  • Valid drivers license; ability to travel to job sites and work in field conditions. Relevant professional licenses (PE, CEM) or trade certifications are advantageous.
