Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The successful candidate will coordinate mechanical design and construction activities, manage schedules and budgets, oversee subcontractors and field teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specified quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical and construction expertise, excellent project management skills, and proven experience in mechanical construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and closeout of mechanical construction projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cash flow forecasts; track progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor selection, scope negotiation, contract administration, and performance monitoring of mechanical trades.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, architects, clients, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues, clarify scope, and implement design changes.
  • Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with mechanical specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Implement and enforce site safety programs and quality control procedures; conduct regular site inspections and safety meetings.
  • Prepare and manage change orders, submittals, RFIs, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Perform risk identification and mitigation, proactively addressing schedule and cost impacts.
  • Lead commissioning, startup, and turnover activities for mechanical systems, and ensure successful handover to operations.
  • Mentor and supervise project engineers, foremen, and field personnel to build a high-performing project team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical construction with at least 3 years in a project management role.
  • Demonstrated mechanical expertise with hands-on knowledge of HVAC, piping, pressure systems, pumps, and related mechanical systems.
  • Strong experience managing construction schedules, budgets, procurement, and subcontractor performance.
  • Proven track record as a Project Manager delivering medium to large-scale mechanical construction projects on time and within budget.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes, mechanical codes (e.g., ASME, NFPA), and industry standards.
  • Proficient with project management and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent) and construction documentation systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Certification such as PMP, CCM, or relevant trade certifications is a plus.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to work at project sites; OSHA 30-hour or similar safety training preferred.
