About The Job

Ready to take your tax career to the next level with a firm that values work-life balance and long-term development?

With a nearly 100-year history and offices across the Midwest, we are an established full-service CPA and business advisory practice. We serve closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and non-profits by combining the resources of a major regional firm with a supportive, team-first culture.

We are seeking a Tax Senior to join our team. In this role, you will manage complex tax engagements, drive strategic client planning, and mentor rising staff in a flexible, hybrid-friendly environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance & Review: Prepare and perform technical reviews of complex federal and multi-state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, S-corporations, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.

  • Proactive Tax Planning: Collaborate with partners and managers to model mid-year and year-end tax planning strategies that optimize savings for business owners and family groups.

  • Client Advisory: Serve as a direct point of contact for key client stakeholders, answering technical inquiries, addressing notice resolutions, and building long-term advisory relationships.

  • Staff Mentorship: Supervise, train, and review the work of junior tax staff and interns, providing constructive feedback and technical coaching.

  • Technical Research: Perform research on emerging tax legislation, multi-state filing requirements, and complex transactional issues to deliver actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Credentials: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required (or CPA candidate making active progress toward licensure).

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, demonstrating strong engagement oversight and technical review capabilities.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's in Taxation (MST) is a plus.

  • Technical Breadth: Solid background in corporate, pass-through entity (S-Corp/Partnership), and individual taxation, alongside proficiency in modern tax software and research databases.

  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to high-touch client service.

Why Join Us?

  • Work-Life Integration: Flexible scheduling, hybrid work arrangements, and realistic seasonal targets designed to protect your personal time.

  • Continuous Professional Growth: Firm-sponsored CPE hours, technical training programs, licensing cost support, and clear pathways to managerial leadership.

  • Community-Minded Culture: Be part of a firm deeply invested in local community initiatives, charity involvement, and volunteerism.

  • Modern Cloud Stack: Advanced accounting, tax workflow, and paperless tools to ensure seamless remote and in-office productivity.

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Highly competitive base salary, performance bonuses, 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, firm-paid insurances, generous PTO, and paid holidays.
