Sales Estimator
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Estimator to join our restoration team. The Sales Estimator will produce accurate, competitive estimates for mitigation and restoration projects (water, mold, fire, and other losses), support the sales process, prepare scopes and proposals, and work closely with production and clients to ensure projects are properly scoped and profitable. This role balances technical knowledge of restoration and remediation with strong customer-facing sales and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed on-site inspections to assess damage, document conditions, and determine appropriate restoration and remediation scopes (water mitigation, mold remediation, fire and smoke, etc.).
- Prepare accurate, timely estimates and proposals using industry-standard estimating tools and software; include labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Convert field assessments into clear scopes of work and line-item pricing that support sales objectives and profitability targets.
- Communicate findings and recommended scopes to homeowners, property managers, insurance adjusters, and internal teams; clearly explain scope, timelines, and costs.
- Work closely with production/project management to ensure estimates are executable and to transition projects smoothly from sales to operations.
- Respond to requests for estimates (RFIs) and follow up with potential customers to close work and support sales growth.
- Maintain accurate documentation, photos, and records for each estimate and ensure compliance with company and insurer requirements.
- Track estimate outcomes and provide feedback to improve estimating accuracy, pricing, and processes.
- Stay current on industry best practices, restoration techniques, regulations, and relevant certifications.
- Occasionally assist with emergency response and on-site direction during initial mitigation work when required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience estimating or selling restoration, remediation, or construction services; previous experience with water mitigation and mold remediation preferred.
- Proven sales and customer service ability with experience explaining technical scopes and closing work with homeowners, property managers, and insurance adjusters.
- Proficiency with industry estimating software (e.g., Xactimate) and strong competency with Microsoft Office and mobile documentation tools.
- Solid knowledge of restoration processes, mitigation techniques, building construction, and remediation protocols for water and mold.
- Relevant certifications preferred (IICRC Water Damage Restoration (WRT), Applied Structural Drying (ASD), or Applied Microbial Remediation (AMRT)).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to produce professional proposals and reports.
- Ability to read plans, measure spaces, and perform takeoffs; comfortable working in field environments and entering water- or mold-affected structures.
- Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to customer sites within the service area.
