Position Overview
Lead delivery of water and wastewater capital projects for municipal clients, overseeing design, permitting, construction support, and project financials. This role is responsible for ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, regulatory requirements, and client expectations while mentoring project teams and supporting business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple water and wastewater projects from feasibility and design through construction and closeout, ensuring schedule, scope, quality, and budget targets are met.
- Serve as primary client contact for municipal clients; build and maintain strong client relationships and represent the firm in stakeholder or public meetings.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, subconsultants, and contractors to integrate engineering design, permitting, and construction activities.
- Prepare and review technical deliverables including design documents, technical memoranda, specifications, and cost estimates; ensure QA/QC compliance.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, billing, and forecasts; monitor project financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and pricing for new business pursuits and support capture efforts to grow municipal water/wastewater work.
- Provide construction support and contract administration, including shop drawing review, RFI responses, change order evaluation, and construction observation.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable regulations, permits, and industry standards for water and wastewater systems.
- Mentor and train junior staff; delegate tasks, monitor performance, and foster a collaborative project team culture.
- Identify and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies; maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or related field required (Civil Engineering degree is a strong plus).
- Minimum 7+ years of experience managing water and/or wastewater projects, including design and municipal client work.
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and technical delivery.
- Strong technical knowledge of wastewater collection/treatment systems, process and civil design principles, and permitting requirements.
- Proven experience working with municipal clients and navigating public sector procurement and approval processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, client-management, and team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with project management and engineering tools (scheduling, cost control, AutoCAD/Civil 3D or equivalent); comfort reviewing engineering drawings and specifications.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or PE are preferred.
- Consulting experience and direct treatment plant design or construction experience are desirable but not required.
