Commercial Litigation Senior Counsel

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Senior Counsel to lead and manage complex commercial disputes for our firm/organization. The Senior Counsel will handle matters across commercial and construction-related litigation, representing clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution forums. This role requires strategic case assessment, strong advocacy, and the ability to guide junior attorneys while collaborating with clients to achieve favorable outcomes through trial, motion practice, discovery, mediation, and settlement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters, including construction-related disputes and community association litigation.
  • Draft and prosecute pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings for state and federal court proceedings.
  • Develop and implement case strategy from intake through resolution, including trial preparation and management.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff; delegate tasks and review work product for quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct and oversee discovery, including written discovery, document production, preservation, and depositions.
  • Represent clients in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings; prepare witnesses and corporate representatives for testimony.
  • Manage alternative dispute resolution processes, including arbitration and mediation sessions, and negotiate settlements when in the clients best interest.
  • Coordinate with experts, consultants, and outside counsel as needed to strengthen case positions and support trial preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, procedural deadlines, and ethical obligations; maintain accurate case budgets and billing records.
  • Provide clear, timely communication to clients regarding case status, strategy, risks, and potential outcomes; develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the PA state bar
  • Minimum of 6+ years of litigation experience, with substantial experience in commercial litigation and construction-related matters.
  • Proven experience in state and federal court practice, including motion practice, trial advocacy, and appellate exposure.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Strong skills in discovery management, depositions, pleadings, and drafting complex motions and briefs.
  • Experience with community association law and commercial construction disputes a significant plus.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience with the ability to manage teams and delegate effectively.
  • Outstanding client-facing skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and build client trust.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work under pressure; strong organizational and time-management skills.
