Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Superintendent to lead construction of automotive dealerships and commercial facilities. The role is responsible for on-site leadership and coordination of all trades, schedule and budget management, quality and safety compliance, and client communication from pre-construction through commissioning. The ideal candidate brings proven site supervision experience, strong knowledge of automotive facility systems and specialty equipment, and proficiency with industry construction management software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day site supervision and leadership for commercial construction projects, with emphasis on automotive dealership and service facility buildouts.
  • Develop, maintain and drive project schedules using MS Project or Primavera P6 to ensure on-time milestones and project delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors and trade partners; enforce scope, quality and schedule commitments.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, monitor project budgets, and implement cost controls to meet financial targets.
  • Manage change order process including documentation, pricing, approvals and client communication.
  • Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures and oversee quality control inspections throughout construction.
  • Oversee permit acquisition and coordinate inspections with authorities having jurisdiction to maintain compliance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications; resolve field constructability issues.
  • Plan and coordinate installation of service bay layouts, vehicle lifts, garage equipment, and specialty automotive systems.
  • Coordinate mechanical (HVAC), plumbing and electrical work; verify integration of systems with project requirements.
  • Supervise structural framing, concrete and steel work and ensure proper sequencing with trades.
  • Manage interior finishes, millwork, and FF&E installation to meet design intent and client expectations.
  • Develop and execute commissioning and punch list processes to achieve final acceptance.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation using Procore, PlanGrid or equivalent platforms.
  • Lead safety management on site in accordance with OSHA standards; conduct toolbox talks and enforce safe work practices.
  • Procure materials and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely deliveries and quality standards.
  • Serve as primary client liaison on site, providing regular progress updates, issue resolution and a high level of customer service.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit/BIM deliverables as needed to coordinate field layout and as-built documentation.
  • Use Bluebeam and other digital workflows to markups, plan coordination and record keeping.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of commercial construction experience with at least 35 years as a Superintendent or Senior Field Lead; automotive dealership or automotive facility buildout experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in site supervision, schedule management, subcontractor coordination and budget control.
  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, structural framing, concrete and steel construction, and interior finishes.
  • Experience with service bay layouts, vehicle lift and garage equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience with change order management, cost estimating and RFI/submittal processes.
  • Proficiency with construction management and collaboration tools such as Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, MS Project and/or Primavera P6; familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit/BIM.
  • Solid understanding of QA/QC procedures, permitting and inspection coordination, and OSHA safety requirements (OSHA 30 preferred).
  • Excellent communication, leadership and client-facing skills with ability to resolve field issues and lead diverse trade teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects or fast-paced work environments.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to job sites regularly; construction-related degree, certification or trade background preferred (eg. Construction Management, PMP, CCM, or equivalent).
