OP PHARMACY TECH -Registry
Assists with filling medications, transcribing prescriptions, prior authorizations, patient window service, and phone calls while handling private medical information and following HIPAA. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and an Illinois pharmacy technician license; PTCB preferred.
Summary
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Outpatient Retail Pharmacist in the filling of medications, transcribing of prescriptions, and clarifying with prior authorizations. The technician will interact directly with patients at the window and be responsible for taking phone calls. Technicians must act professionally and be courteous at all times. It is expected the technician will complete his or her tasks in a timely manner to meet the demands of the pharmacy. The technician must be familiar with HIPAA compliance and handling of private medical information.
Education and/or licensure requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- PTCB Certification preferred.
- Illinois licensed pharmacy technician by the Department of Professional Regulations
