Assists with filling medications, transcribing prescriptions, prior authorizations, patient window service, and phone calls; must follow HIPAA and handle private medical information. Requires age 18+, high school diploma/GED, Illinois Pharmacy Technician License, CPhT, and 5 years' experience.
Summary
General Summary/basic PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Outpatient Retail Pharmacist in the filling of medications, transcribing of prescriptions, and clarifying with prior authorizations. The technician will interact directly with patients at the window and be responsible for taking phone calls. Technicians must act professionally and be courteous at all times. It is expected the technician will complete his or her tasks in a timely manner to meet the demands of the pharmacy. The technician must be familiar with HIPAA compliance and handling of private medical information.
MINIMUM Education, WORK EXPERIENCE, & Skills:
• Must be 18 years of age
• High school diploma/GED
• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
•Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification
• 5 years previous pharmacy technician experience
• Effective communicator and utilizes teamwork
• Correct performance of pharmaceutical calculations
• Provides excellent customer service
