Job description

A well-established, independently operated cannabis retailer in White Plains, NY is seeing a highly analytical and relationship-driven Inventory Manager to join their team. This candidate will oversee inventory planning, purchasing, demand forecasting, and vendor management for a high-volume operation generating upwards of $700k in revenue each month. This individual will take ownership of maintaining appropriate inventory levels, analyzing sales trends, placing orders, and ensuring the store has the right products available to meet customer demand.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and Excel skills with the ability to build productive vendor relationships and negotiate effectively. Experience within the New York cannabis market is highly preferred, particularly for candidates who already understand the vendor landscape and purchasing environment. Candidates from other industries will also be considered if they bring strong supply chain or inventory management experience and the ability to quickly establish relationships within a new market.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Own inventory planning, purchasing, and ordering, using sales data and demand forecasts to maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing overstock and out-of-stock products

Analyze sales and inventory data through Excel, spreadsheets, and inventory management technology to identify trends and make informed purchasing decisions

Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing and terms, evaluating new products, and coordinating purchase orders

Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to maintain accuracy and identify discrepancies

Partner with store leadership to evaluate sales performance, anticipate product demand, and continuously improve inventory and purchasing strategies

Required Skills

  • Previous experience in inventory management, supply chain, purchasing, demand planning, or a related function, ideally within cannabis, retail, CPG, beverage, or another inventory-intensive industry
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and spreadsheets, particularly using sales and inventory data for forecasting and purchasing decisions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable inventory strategies
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills with the confidence to develop productive vendor partnerships
  • Comfortable learning new technology and inventory management systems; New York cannabis experience and existing vendor relationships are highly preferred but not required
