Job Title: Lab IT Support Specialist
Location: 100% Onsite – 1000 US Highway 202 S, Raritan, NJ 08869 (Parking available)
Expected Hours: 40 per week
Contract Duration: 6 Months (Potential for extension based on business needs)
Pay Rate: $31.03/hr (W2)
Position Summary
The Associate Lab Computing Analyst will provide end-to-end IT technical support for laboratory environments, working directly with clients at J&J. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless integration of IT systems with lab instrumentation, troubleshooting, and supporting users in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and support laboratory IT environments integrated with scientific instrumentation.
- Administer, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows-based platforms and connected desktop hardware, peripherals, and core applications.
- Ensure successful onboarding, relocation, and retirement of lab equipment and computers.
- Enforce and monitor Windows security policies, including user/group permissions, file/folder permissions, group policies, and local security standards.
- Analyze and implement enhancements and upgrades to optimize desktop platform support.
- Ensure strict adherence to client corporate policies, including compliance reporting.
- Act as the primary technical contact for lab instrument vendors and escalate issues as needed to broader IT teams.
- Support new system validations, change management, and maintain accurate inventory records of lab equipment and software.
- Submit detailed weekly engineering reports to team leads by COB on the last business day of each week.
- Serve as the liaison for software/hardware inquiries, including communication with clients and vendors.
- Participate in client meetings and assist with various PerkinElmer Enterprise practices, providing backup to team leads as required.
- Serve as the technical expert for escalations and mentor junior team members.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and demonstrate proficiency with office equipment/software after training.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and the ability to interpret client requests.
- Proven troubleshooting skills across complex IT systems (network and PC-related).
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Effective time management with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and can follow written documentation precisely.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask and provide technical support to diverse user groups.
Nice to Have
- Deskside or Help Desk IT experience, particularly with troubleshooting.
- Windows PC administration.
- Flexibility to work various shifts/days.
- Background in Pharma-IT or experience supporting pharmaceutical clients.
