Summary: As a Sustainability Engineer, you will design, implement, and oversee sustainability initiatives within our organization. Your role will involve assessing environmental impacts, reducing resource consumption, and driving sustainable practices across departments so our business can operate effectively without harming the environment. Your role will also include collaborating with customers, suppliers, partners, and the community on all sustainability initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in our commitment to environmental responsibility and social sustainability.

Essential Functions

• Lead multi-disciplinary dynamic teams engaged in a wide range of projects providing planning, design, and engineering services for a wide range of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) projects.
• Work with our customer support teams to coordinate action plans and responses to customers requesting information about our sustainability actions.
• Provide technical support related to PFAS and other environmental contamination, on characterization/remediation projects for federal, state, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Support the planning, execution, and management of complex projects and field programs.
• Evaluate chemical distribution and transport through soils, groundwater, surface water, and sediment to reach sound technical conclusions and present/document findings.
• Develop and execute green engineering strategies aligned with corporate objectives and industry standards.
• Conduct Life Cycle Analyses (LCA) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) to evaluate project footprints from design to disposal.
• Identify and implement technologies to reduce facility energy, water, and raw material consumption
• Gather sustainability metrics, track carbon data, and manage documentation for green building certifications like LEED or WELL.
• Work with our EHS group to monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, EPA standards).

• Perform site assessments, field investigations, field sampling, and other environmental surveys.
• Work with the Marketing group to put out communications regarding our environmental and suitability programs.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act.
• Help develop employee environmental training and conduct such training.
• Coordinate environmental audits and inspections, including preparation of written reports, reviewing documents, and maintaining records and files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS) and energy modeling tools (e.g., DesignBuilder).
• Familiarity with ESG standards, carbon accounting, circular economy, waste treatment in production, and sustainability certifications.
• Have experience with environmental assessment using the ISO 14000 series methodology, specifically the ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards for life cycle analysis (LCA) of products and the ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14067 standards to account for greenhouse gas emissions and establish a carbon footprint.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, and data analysis abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization's production processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a liaison with dynamic and diverse groups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Occasional travel.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related sustainability field.
• 5 Years in a similar position or work experience

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform manual work in a non-climate-controlled factory setting.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
