Job Description Summary

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Plastics Engineering Technology Program emphasizes the practical application of engineering principles. The curriculum includes hands-on experience with plastics processing, along with focused study in polymer materials and properties, part and mold design, statistics, and computer-aided design.

POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Acquire, maintain, and operate infrastructures, facilities, and equipment
• Provide an environment in which student outcomes can be attained
• Maintaining appearance/cleanliness of labs
• Maintain technical documentation for ABET Accreditation (both Reading & Writing)
• Assist in labs with faculty during scheduled classroom / lab times
• Adhere to all safety standards and work practices established by the industry
• Assist other students with equipment and student projects
• Public speaking giving hands on presentations and demonstrations to industry & group tours
• Attend off campus recruiting events
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Participate in industry-partner laboratory projects, including injection molding trials and material property analysis.
• Heavy Lifting (50 pounds)
• Attained Sophomore status in the program
• Registered full time in the Plastics Engineering Technology and or CAD Program
• Technical Documentation (both Reading and Writing technical manuals)
• Industrial Lab Equipment (Injection Molding, Extrusion, 3D printing, Materials Testing, Machining, etc.)
• Industrial Safety
• Demonstrated ability to direction and work with limited supervision
Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered full-time SSU student
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Follow SSU dress code policy
