Job description

H.F. Lenz Engineering is a nationally recognized building systems engineering and design firm with projects spanning across the US. Our multi-disciplinary engineering teams provide mechanical/HVAC, electrical, plumbing/fire protection, civil and structural services. In business for 80 years, H.F. We are seeking a Structural Project Engineer with a PE license and at least 10 years of experience to join our Structural team. This role will be responsible for the execution of structural design projects in a variety of markets by performing design, coordination and documentation tasks. Responsibilities will also include site survey responsibilities for commercial building projects of various sizes and structures.

This role is on-site at any of the following office locations:

  • Johnstown, PA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Conneaut, OH
  • Lancaster, PA

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Use Revit and other software platforms for design of various structures.
  • Perform calculations and utilize structural software for design and analysis tasks.
  • Perform surveying and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Multi-disciplinary coordination including participation in project team meetings.
  • Review structural project details with Engineers and Designers.
  • Review submittals.
  • Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Conduct site visits and write documentation reports.
  • Independent design and documentation of small to mid-sized projects.
  • Collaborate with other Project Engineers on larger projects and specific tasks.
  • Ensure the design and production efforts are completed within project schedules.
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to apply engineering principles to unique situations.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and commitment to quality in execution of projects.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • PE or SE license is required.
  • FE/EIT Certification with desire to obtain PE license may be considered.
  • 10+ years of structural design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Autodesk Revit; RAM and/or STAAD.
  • Knowledge of building and material design codes and design practices related to structural engineering.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be willing to travel to regional project sites, including some overnight travel.
