Description

If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer for our Syracuse, NY office to add to our growing and talented team.

As a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for performing engineering evaluations and analyses, field inspections, design drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimation with minimal supervision. Your role will involve performing fire suppression system selection, preparing preliminary designs, and creating performance specifications.

The requirements for the Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer position include knowledge of NYS Plumbing codes and NFPA, proficiency in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to perform standard engineering analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems using the latest codes and technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering evaluations and analyses, field inspections, design drawings, technical specifications and cost estimation with minimal supervision.
  • Perform fire suppression system selection, preparing preliminary designs, and creating performance specifications
  • Perform fire suppression hydraulic calculations to support design and estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction
  • Assists upper level management and staff as a technical expert.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of NYS Plumbing codes and NFPA.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to perform standard engineering analysis of existing and new plumbing and fire protection systems utilizing the latest codes and technologies to provide optimized designs.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Revit MEP proficiency preferred.

Experience, Education and Certification
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology .
  • 5-10 years of post-college experience.
  • NYS PE License preferred.
  • Applies mechanical engineering and mathematical principals.
  • Contributes to more complex aspects of a project.
  • Experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems for schools, healthcare facilities and commercial projects is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) are required for this position.

Work Environment
  • Professional office environment but may require travel to New York state job sites 10% of the time.
  • The job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
