Gamma Vacuum is seeking a Full Time, On-Site, Mechanical Designer/Engineer in our Shakopee, Minnesota Product Company. The Mechanical Designer/Engineer will be responsible for design and documentation of mechanical components utilized in our Vacuum Pumps and Controllers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Product Design and Drafting:
- Create and maintain vacuum products based on business requirements.
- Create and maintain tooling design documentation used in manufacturing processes.
- Interface with Electrical Engineering to design electronic product chasis and hardware.
- Develop accurate drawings based on current drafting standards.
- Project Management and Documentation:
- Communicate with vendors for obtaining and approving prototypes.
- Manage multiple Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Customer Work Requests (CWR) simultaneously.
- Maintain ECO and CWR documentation.
- Research and Development Assistance:
- Develop production ready documentation for New Product Introduction.
- Create Items and BOM's in ERP system for production launches.
Education level:
- Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical design equivalent is preferred.
Relevant Previous experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering field.
- Vacuum product exposure preferred but not required. (e.g. high vacuum system, surface analysis or sputter deposition)
Knowledge areas/Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks.
- Keen attention to details.
- Experience with CREO CAD systems or equivalant 3D CAD software.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, 2D CAD skills.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Other requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated individual who is willing to learn and is results oriented.
- Experience in project management.
- Design experience in the areas of Sheet Metal Design, Welded Assembly Design, Machined Component Design, and Tooling Design.
