Job description

Overview

Designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions. Includes concepting new ideas, developing
specifications and requirements, implementing proof of concepts and prototypes, performing high level and
detailed designing, and leading the transistion to manufacturing. Leads large projects or multiple smaller
projects and provides direction and training to less-senior associates.

Responsibilities

1) Lead in the concepting and design of products that add value and are a solution to customers and
market needs
2) Lead and collaborate with others on the development team to develop products
3) Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operations
4) Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost
5) Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipment
6) Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication
7) Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs
8) Maintain product develop schedules and cost estimates
9) Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control
10) Perform prototype development and testing
11) Perform on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are met
12) Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause
13) Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

1) Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
2) Minimum of 8 years of related experience
3) Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design required
4) Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools required
5) Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design including execution of risk
assessments required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

1) In-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, AllenBradley controls/controllers
2) Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or other related electrical CAD systems
3) Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively
4) Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
5) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6) Team-oriented and collaborative
7) Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
8) Ability to learn new technologies
9) Self-motivated
10) Ability to work non-traditional hours
11) Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
