Job description

Tunstall Engineering Group of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a full-time Geotechnical Engineer who will apply geotechnical engineering skills in practical "Construction Engineering" applications such as Temporary Support of Excavation Designs, Permanent Wall Designs, Anchor Designs, Slope Stability, Pile Designs, and CADD.

The full-time schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some variation based on project needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE Geotechnical Engineer POSITION
  • Collaborates with and provides geotechnical engineering support to contractors.
  • Designs and develops details that will be used by contractors in the field.
  • Performs geotechnical engineering calculations.
  • Analyzes and designs walls, Cofferdams, deep foundations, and slopes for stability.
  • Assist in structural engineering for bracing elements related to walls and cofferdams.
  • Creates CAD sketches.
  • Assists engineering team with preparing construction documents and working on projects and tasks.
  • Travels to and observes construction sites.

Geotechnical Engineer QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this position you do not need to have any professional engineering experience, although it is helpful.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program.
  • Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
  • 0-10 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License preferred, but not required.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient or familiar with geotechnical analysis and computer modeling software such as Shoring Suite, DeepEX, Slide, LPile, MathCAD, STAAD, MicroStation, or AutoCAD.
