Job description

We are seeking Electrical and Controls Engineers andTechnologists at different levels of experience (Junior, Intermediate, andSenior) to join our team. Candidates will be involved in EIC system design andproject execution for industrial applications. The role offers opportunities towork in both office and field environments, providing a dynamic and challengingexperience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Junior Level (Engineer in Training - EIT / ElectricalTechnologist - AScT Eligible)

At this level, candidates will focus on learning andsupporting projects with close supervision.
  • Assist in EIC engineering and design for greenfield and existing industrial applications.
  • Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and BOMs for control panels under guidance.
  • Use AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN to create and modify design drawings.
  • Support the development of I/O drawings from spreadsheets and basic AC/DC circuit designs.
  • Participate in FAT testing and inspect electrical components under supervision.
  • Assist in commissioning activities at client sites.
  • Learn and apply industry standards (UL508A, CEC) and company practices.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to gain hands-on experience.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client standards.

Intermediate Level (P.Eng. Eligible / AScT - ElectricalEngineering Technologist)

At this level, candidates are expected to work moreindependently, handle more complex tasks, and contribute to project management.In addition to Junior Level responsibilities, they will:
  • Design electrical and control systems for industrial applications with minimal supervision.
  • Develop network topology drawings and safety architecture designs.
  • Perform power system analysis, including circuit breaker sizing, load calculations, and lighting design.
  • Work with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical to produce detailed design drawings.
  • Independently oversee FAT testing and inspect electrical components before and after installation.
  • Provide commissioning support at client sites, including supervision of contractors.
  • Manage project tasks, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Communicate project updates effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • Review and interpret specifications, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Participate in mentoring junior engineers and technologists, offering guidance and technical support.

Senior Level (P.Eng. Required / Senior Technologist -AScT)

At this level, candidates are expected to be fullyindependent and assume design responsibility of projects, mentor teams, andcontribute to strategic planning. In addition to Junior and Intermediate Levelresponsibilities, they will:
  • Be involved in EIC engineering and design efforts for complex industrial projects.
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, power and control schematics, and grounding layouts.
  • Conduct power studies using ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower (load flow, short circuit, coordination studies, arc flash analysis).
  • Specify and approve electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and VFDs.
  • Oversee vendor documentation review, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site commissioning.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and technologists.
  • Support business development efforts by preparing estimates and proposals.
  • Interface with utilities and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making and process improvements within the organization.

Qualifications

Junior Level (EIT / AScT Eligible)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering OR Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Eligible for registration as an EIT (Engineers & Geoscientists BC) OR AScT (Applied Science Technologist & Technicians BC - ASTTBC).
  • Familiarity with industrial control panel design and CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN preferred).
  • Understanding of PLC programming or wiring (preferred but not required).

Intermediate Level (P.Eng. Eligible / AScT Registered -Technologist)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering OR Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation OR AScT certification (or eligible for registration).
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical/controls engineering or industrial applications.
  • Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office, and industrial machine design.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems up to 4160V is an asset.

Senior Level (P.Eng. Required / Senior Technologist -AScT)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering OR Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. (EGBC) OR AScT (ASTTBC).
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering or controls design.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
  • Expertise in power distribution (120V to 25kV), electrical protection, and arc flash studies.
  • Experience working with Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA, and international standards (NEC, IEC is a plus).
