Controls Engineer
Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading custom industrial equipment manufacturer in the Spartanburg, SC area, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their engineering team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer to design, program, test, and troubleshoot control systems used in custom-engineered industrial equipment.
Controls Engineer Job Summary:
• Pay: $75,000-$95,000 annually
• Design and develop complete industrial control systems for custom-engineered equipment
• Create electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Material
• Program and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and machine control systems
• Specify control components, instrumentation, sensors, VFDs, drives, and related hardware
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and project teams throughout equipment design and development
• Support control panel assembly and machine build activities
• Perform system testing, equipment startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Assist with customer support and field service activities as needed
• Support engineering documentation, project reviews, and engineering change activities
• Ensure controls designs meet project specifications, applicable industry standards, and safety requirements
Controls Engineer Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field is required
• 3+ years of Controls Engineering or Controls Design experience
• Experience designing industrial control systems within a manufacturing or OEM environment
• Strong understanding of industrial automation and machine controls
• PLC programming experience
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with custom industrial machinery or engineered-to-order equipment is preferred
• Experience with instrumentation, VFDs, servo systems, and safety circuits is preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks, and/or RSLogix is preferred
