Your role at GEI.

GEI is expanding and we are seeking Geotechnical Engineers to join our growing Allendale MI office. The Geotechnical Engineer will coordinate, oversee, and manage subsurface exploration activities; develop geotechnical engineering reports, and support GEI's geotechnical and geostructural design teams with geotechnical design activities. Placement, responsibilities, and scope of work will be determined based on the applicant's experience and qualifications.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Coordinate with clients to schedule and perform subsurface exploration activities at various project sites.
  • Coordinate, direct, and oversee drilling subcontractors during the exploration.
  • Perform visual engineering classifications and lab testing on the recovered samples.
  • Develop a geotechnical engineering report in support of the project design.
  • Support the GEI design team with geotechnical aspects of MSE, SOE, industrial, and hydropower projects.
  • Perform construction oversight on various GEI design projects.
  • Prepare design drawings in AutoCAD with oversight from senior staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working toward B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work well alone or in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel on temporary assignments as necessary, including field assignments.
