Position Purpose:
The System Director is a key leader for the hospital and exemplifies Sinai Health Systems’ values and supports the 
mission and vision of the organization. This leader is responsible for supporting a patient-centric approach. 
Through key initiatives within the pillars of excellence of Quality/Safety, Service, People, Financial and Growth. 
Within this balanced model, the director is responsible for overseeing, organizing, directing, growing and 
controlling activities of assigned areas to ensure that high-quality care is effectively and efficiently provided.
This position reports to the HCH, Site President (dotted line to the CNO). It provides supervision to applicable 
leadership staff in the following acute care departments: Mount Sinai and Holy Cross Hospitals Behavioral 
Health Areas: MSH and HCH IP Behavioral (with dotted line to CNO). 

Key Job Activities:
 Directs, oversees and manages operational functions and implements short and long term goals and 
objectives for assigned areas of responsibility.
 Refines, executes and manages tactics and strategies to meet performance expectations for PEOPLE
(engagement).
 Develops, operationalizes, and oversees tactics and strategies to meet performance expectations for 
SERVICE. Conducts investigation of complaints or problems and takes necessary corrective action.
 Develops, operationalizes, and oversees tactics and strategies to meet performance expectations for 
QUALITY/SAFETY.
 Develops, operationalizes, and is responsible for tactics and strategies to meet performance expectations
for FINANCE/(Premium).
 Ensures resources, plans and operationalization of tactics and strategies to meet performance 
expectations for GROWTH (enhance market share within the communities we serve).
 Works with management team and staff to achieve goals, plans, forecasts and operational and capital 
budgets for areas of responsibility. 
 Interviews, hires, directs and evaluates leaders who exemplify our mission and fit our culture. Assists and 
develops leaders and staff in areas of mentoring and complex employee relations matters.
 Ensures compliance with regulations and accreditation. 
 Champions and fosters the success of Partners in Excellence (PIE) process improvement teams.

Education and Work Experience:
 MSN or MHA required
 At least five years of previous acute care inpatient psychiatric experience in a hospital and supervisory 
experience in management and administration

Knowledge and Skills: 
 Principles and practices of hospital administration
 Healthcare business practices 
 Oral and written communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution
 Business development, inpatient growth and strategy
 Managing in a matrix environment
 Cost management and process improvement
 Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:
 Active RN license in the state of Illinois required
 PMH-BC within 6 months required
 Crisis De-escalation Certification within 2 years required
 CPR Certification required
