Summary
General Summary:
Operates cord switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Receives, screens and relays incoming and outgoing calls to proper individuals, department or hospital services.
- Places long distance, collect, and TTY phone calls
- Operates paging system, making all necessary announcements
- Record of doctors on vacation and their weekend on call schedules and the faxing of such information to the nursing floors.
- Record all wall alarms that go off.
- Record of all Codes
- Record of all Dr. Reds (FIRE) and Disaster Drills
- Do numeric paging and Alpha text message paging
- Unpacking, labeling and dispensing of patient's room telephones
- Updating information of all pertinent doctor's changes, eg. Office number, cell number or home number
- On Call availability, evening and weekends, will be scheduled 16 hrs per week.
Minimum Education:
- High school grad or GED
Minimum Experience:
- Previous experience as telephone operator desirable. Two weeks (three, if needed) on the job training.
