Job description

  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Performs surgery scheduling duties, as well as prior authorization, coding and general office duties.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Women's Health teams at Samaritan Health Services offer a full range of OB/GYN care including well-woman exams, contraception (birth control), obstetric care (including labor and delivery), treatment for infertility, menopause and hormones, continence therapy and treatment, pelvic prolapse therapy and repair, treatment for uterine disorders, treatment for menstrual (period) disorders, treatment for gynecologic cancers and gynecologic/urologic surgery.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Post-secondary courses in Medical Terminology, computer applications and secretarial skills, or equivalent required.
    • Experience and/or training in a hospital or medical office doing similar tasks preferred.
    • Experience and/or training in reception or a customer service setting required.
    • Experience and/or training with delegated health care services and ICD-10 and CPT coding required.

    • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
    • Confidentiality - Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
    • Time Management - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
    • Team Building - Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
