Job description
Position: VP of Engineering & Operations
Location: Wall Township, NJ (On-site)
Compensation: $175K - $225K (DOE) + Bonus Opportunity
Overview:
We are seeking a proven Engineering and Operations leader to drive execution, accountability, and technical excellence in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This role will oversee engineering and operational strategies, ensuring products move efficiently from development through commercialization. The ideal candidate combines strong technical credibility with exceptional people leadership and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all Engineering and Operations functions, fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Establish and implement KPIs, metrics, and processes that enhance predictability and performance across engineering and operations.
- Drive design for manufacturability, lean production practices, and Six Sigma methodologies to ensure scalability and efficiency.
- Oversee stage-gate and go/no-go frameworks for development and commercialization programs, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to validate requirements, feasibility, and timelines.
- Hire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, instilling a strong engineering mentality and operational rigor.
- Recommend capital investments and negotiate supplier contracts to support growth and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or operations environments
- 5+ of leadership experience managing engineering, manufacturing, quality, or operations teams
- Proven success in leading small, technology-driven companies through early-stage commercialization and scale-up.
- Strong technical foundation in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience installing KPIs and driving operational excellence.
- Expertise in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and execution skills in fast-paced environments.
