Job description
VDC Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a VDC Project Manager to lead the virtual design and construction (VDC) efforts for complex construction projects, with an emphasis on mission-critical and data center facilities. The VDC Project Manager will oversee BIM workflows, model coordination, and digital project delivery from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring integration of MEP systems and adherence to BIM Execution Plans. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise in Revit, BIM/VDC tools, construction processes, and strong collaboration skills to drive schedule, quality, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and VDC execution strategies aligned with contract requirements and project goals.
- Lead model coordination and clash detection workflows for multi-discipline (MEP/structural/architectural) teams, manage the resolution process, and track coordination issues to closure.
- Manage virtual design and construction deliverables, including federated models, coordination reports, RFI/BIM clarifications, and digital handovers.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, trade partners, and owners to integrate VDC deliverables into construction sequencing and site logistics.
- Oversee 3D/4D/5D modeling and simulation activities (scheduling, sequencing, and cost integration) to support constructability reviews and project planning.
- Maintain quality control of models and data, enforce modeling standards, and ensure compliance with BEP, LOD requirements, and data exchange protocols.
- Implement and manage VDC/BIM tools and technologies (e.g., Revit, Fuzor, Revizto) and workflows to improve collaboration, visualization, and issue management.
- Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to internal teams and trade partners on VDC/BIM processes and tools.
- Support mission-critical and data center project requirements including MEP coordination, redundancy and commissioning workflows, and owner-specific modeling standards.
- Manage subcontractor VDC scopes, review deliverables, and coordinate model submissions to ensure on-time, accurate integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on VDC/BIM experience on commercial, data center, or mission-critical projects; experience managing VDC efforts on large-scale construction projects.
- Proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination workflows, with demonstrated experience producing and managing BEPs and LOD definitions.
- Hands-on experience with coordination and clash detection tools and workflows; familiarity with Navisworks, Revizto, or similar issue-tracking/model-merge platforms.
- Experience with 4D/5D scheduling and model-based construction simulation tools such as Fuzor or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and integration in model-based workflows; experience on mission-critical or data center MEP coordination preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and site logistics with the ability to translate model information to field execution.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to coordinate multi-discipline teams and trade partners.
- Familiarity with regulatory and owner-specific requirements for mission-critical facilities; experience preparing digital handover and as-built model deliverables.
- Part 107 UAV/drone remote pilot certification preferred for site capture and scanning workflows.
- Certifications such as Professional BIM Manager, Certified Revit Professional, or equivalent are a plus.
