Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee multiple retail construction and renovation projects across regions. The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the clients quality standards. This role requires strong construction supervision skills, retail construction experience, frequent travel between job sites, and excellent coordination with subcontractors, project managers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to and supervise multiple retail construction and renovation sites, ensuring consistent adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, on-site crews and material deliveries to maintain efficient workflow and avoid delays.
  • Monitor project budgets and work with project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and control change orders.
  • Enforce safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements; conduct regular safety walkthroughs and toolbox talks.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications and RFIs; implement plans and corrective actions to resolve field issues quickly.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly site reports, progress photos, schedules, man-hour logs and punch lists to project management and clients.
  • Manage quality control, perform inspections, and ensure completed work meets contract specifications and client expectations before turnover.
  • Lead pre-construction and pre-handover meetings, coordinate inspections and commissioning, and ensure timely project closeout and documentation.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, vendors and internal teams to manage expectations and report project status.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and site conditions while maintaining productivity and adherence to project milestones.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field superintendent experience in construction, with a minimum of 3 years supervising retail store builds or renovations.
  • Proven superintendent skills: crew management, scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of retail construction methods, tenant improvement processes, and store standards.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and stay on-site as required across a regional territory.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and common construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or similar).
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; travel-ready with appropriate tools and PPE.
