The role focuses on ensuring systems meet design intent, operational reliability and compliance with client requirements, schedules and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute all phases of commissioning for data center projects, including pre-commissioning, functional performance testing, integrated systems testing, and turnover.
- Develop, review and implement commissioning plans, test procedures (FAT/SAT), commissioning schedules and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate multi-discipline teams of contractors, vendors and client representatives to ensure timely and compliant completion of commissioning activities.
- Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of critical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, HVAC/chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, cooling distribution, fire suppression and BMS/controls.
- Prepare and review commissioning documentation: test reports, non-conformance reports, punch lists, as-built records and O&M handover packages.
- Serve as the primary client point-of-contact on-site; present test results, status updates and technical recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements on every site; promote a culture of safety and enforce site-specific safety protocols.
- Mentor and train junior commissioning engineers and technicians; provide technical guidance and promote best practices across projects.
- Manage travel logistics and adapt to variable project schedules, including extended on-site assignments and night/weekend work as required.
- Support lessons-learned processes and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize commissioning workflows and reduce rework.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent technical discipline preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in data center construction and commissioning, with demonstrated leadership of multi-site projects.
- Proven experience with commissioning processes and documentation (commissioning plans, FAT/SAT, functional test procedures, punch lists, O&M manuals).
