Position Overview
We are seeking an upwardly mobile Tax Senior or Manager to lead complex tax engagements and serve as a trusted advisor to our diverse client base in the Indianapolis area. This role is ideal for a professional looking to transition into a leadership position, overseeing tax compliance, strategic planning, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement Management: Lead and review the preparation of complex federal and state tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, and Partnerships).
- Tax Strategy: Develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes for clients.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing technical guidance and performance feedback to foster professional growth.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and identifying opportunities for additional advisory services.
- Technical Research: Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and stay current on changing tax laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or a corporate/public blend.
- Licensure: CPA license is strongly preferred (or active progress toward completion).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Master's in Taxation (MST) or JD/LLM is a significant plus.
- Skills: Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Communication: Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-tax professionals.
