Tax Manager
A well-established public accounting firm in the Fairfax, VA area is offering a rare partner-track Tax Manager seat a direct path to ownership for a CPA who is ready to lead client relationships and a growing tax team.
What you will do
- Review and sign off on complex federal and multi-state returns 1040, C-Corp, S-Corp, partnership, estate, and trust
- Lead tax planning conversations with business and high-net-worth individual clients, translating technical issues into clear, actionable guidance
- Research and resolve complex federal and state tax questions, documenting conclusions for the engagement file
- Supervise, review, and mentor staff and senior associates across the tax practice
- Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and client deliverables from kickoff through filing
- Build and deepen client relationships to support retention and practice growth
- Participate in firm-sponsored training and, if desired, pursue a firm-paid master's degree in taxation
What you need
- Active CPA license required
- 5 plus years of progressive tax experience in public accounting
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review complex individual and business returns across multiple entity types
- Strong federal and multi-state tax compliance and planning knowledge
- Experience supervising staff and managing client engagements
Nice to have
- Master's degree in taxation or willingness to pursue firm-paid
- Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement and ProSystem fx Access
- Multi-state nexus and apportionment experience
- Background in estate and trust taxation
