Job description
Tax Manager
Join an established Sacramento-based organization where a $135,000-$170,000 base salary, high-impact tax planning, and the opportunity to lead and mentor a dedicated tax team await an experienced tax professional.
What you'll do
Own the end-to-end preparation and review of corporate federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring full accuracy and timely compliance.
Design and execute proactive tax planning strategies to optimize the effective tax rate and mitigate risk.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing tax team, setting daily priorities and evaluating work product.
Monitor federal and state tax legislative updates, translating complex changes into clear guidance for leadership.
Manage tax authority audits and inquiries, serving as the primary liaison for external auditors and agencies.
Analyze financial data to uncover tax-saving opportunities and deliver actionable recommendations to senior executives.
Partner with internal accounting, legal, and operational units to align tax strategy with broader business objectives.
What you need
5+ years of progressive tax experience across corporate tax departments or public accounting practices.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Technical expertise in federal, state, and multi-state corporate tax compliance and reporting.
Strong analytical capabilities with a proven track record of managing competing deadlines.
Hands-on proficiency with tax preparation systems and advanced Excel modeling.
Nice to have
Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
Direct supervisory experience managing tax staff or engagement teams.
Experience navigating tax authority audits and dispute resolution.
