Construction Superintendent

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for commercial and public works projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating field activities, ensuring safety and quality, managing schedules and subcontractors, and delivering projects on time and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, construction expertise, and the ability to collaborate with owners, design teams, and contractors in CMAR and public works environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations and supervise crews and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute project schedules; coordinate sequencing and critical path activities to meet milestones.
  • Enforce safety programs and OSHA-compliant practices; conduct site safety meetings and manage corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project management, estimators, and CMAR partners to support cost control, change management, and constructability reviews.
  • Oversee quality control and inspection processes; ensure work meets contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Manage site logistics, materials deliveries, equipment usage, and temporary facilities to optimize productivity.
  • Facilitate communication with owners, engineers, inspectors, and public agencies; obtain and manage required permits and inspections for public works projects.
  • Document daily progress, produce field reports, track RFIs and submittals, and maintain as-built records.
  • Mentor and develop junior field staff, promote teamwork, and resolve on-site conflicts to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Plan and coordinate tie-in activities (Tit-ups) and connections with existing infrastructure to ensure safe and compliant integration.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on superintendent or lead field supervision experience on commercial or public works projects; CMAR project experience preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, sequencing, and site management.
  • Experience with tie-in activities (Tit-ups) and coordinating work with existing utilities and infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of public works procurement, compliance, and permitting processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of quality control, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements; certifications (e.g., OSHA 30) preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMAR delivery method and experience collaborating with design-build/CMAR teams.
  • Proficient with field reporting tools, basic construction software, and ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites; high school diploma or equivalent required; construction-related degree or certifications a plus.
