Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead and deliver construction projects across Retail, Life Science, Healthcare, Education and Mission Critical facilities. The Superintendent will be responsible for day-to-day site leadership ensuring projects meet safety, quality, schedule and budget targets while coordinating subcontractors, managing on-site workforce, and maintaining strong client communication. This role requires technical expertise in complex building systems, strict compliance with regulatory and client-specific requirements, and a proven ability to operate in sensitive, high-consequence environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site leadership and direction as the primary Superintendent for construction projects across Retail, Life Science, Healthcare, Education and Mission Critical facilities.
- Plan, sequence and supervise all field activities to meet schedule milestones and budget targets; proactively identify and resolve site issues.
- Manage, coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades and site labor to ensure productivity, quality and compliance with contract documents.
- Enforce strict site safety protocols and regulatory compliance; conduct daily safety briefings and ensure adherence to client-specific safety programs.
- Coordinate inspection, testing and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and specialized systems (including cleanroom, MEP, and other mission-critical components).
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications and submittals; ensure installation aligns with design intent and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely project documentation including daily logs, RFIs, change orders, photos and progress reports for clients and project management.
- Facilitate regular coordination meetings with clients, design teams and project stakeholders to communicate progress, risks and mitigation plans.
- Implement quality control processes and perform site inspections to verify workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
- Support training and mentorship of field staff, promote best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Superintendent on projects within Retail, Life Science, Healthcare, Education and Mission Critical sectors (typical minimum 710 years of relevant field leadership).
- Demonstrated expertise managing complex MEP, cleanroom or other specialized systems common to life science and mission-critical facilities.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
- Track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication and conflict-resolution skills; ability to work directly with clients, owners and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proficient with construction documentation and site reporting (daily logs, RFIs, change orders, submittal review).
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required; willingness to work extended hours when project demands dictate.
- Relevant technical degree or certifications preferred (Construction Management, Building Trades, or equivalent experience).
- Required skill set: Superintendent, Retail, Life Science, Healthcare, Education, Mission Critical.
- Nice-to-have: Commercial project experience and OSHA 30 certification.
