Sr Employment Law Attorney/Employment Law Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Employment Law Attorney (Senior or mid-level) to join our litigation team and handle complex labor and employment matters. The role focuses on defending and prosecuting employment disputes including class and collective actions, wage-and-hour claims, and wrongful termination cases while providing strategic counsel to employers and managing case teams. The ideal candidate has strong litigation experience, excellent legal writing and advocacy skills, and familiarity with Labor & Employment law practice areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage employment litigation matters from intake through trial and appeal, including class and collective actions and wage-and-hour litigation (FLSA/state law)
- Develop case strategy, draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs; prepare and argue dispositive motions
- Conduct and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and lead trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
- Counsel clients on employment law compliance, risk mitigation, policies, and internal investigations
- Supervise, mentor, and review work of associates, paralegals, and support staff; delegate tasks and manage case budgets and timelines
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations and alternative dispute resolution
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (HR, benefits, corporate counsel) and outside experts as needed
- Manage multiple matters concurrently while maintaining high standards for client service, billing accuracy, and file documentation
- Contribute to business development and client relationship management, including proposals, pitches, and client presentations
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the hiring jurisdiction
- For Senior Attorney: 7+ years of litigation experience in labor and employment law; for mid-level Employment Law Attorney: 2-6 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience handling employment litigation, including class actions, wage-and-hour claims, wrongful termination, discrimination and retaliation cases
- Strong motion practice, discovery management, deposition and trial experience; courtroom experience strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, NLRA and related regulations)
- Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, client counseling, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with experience supervising associates or paralegals
- Comfortable handling complex factual and legal issues, managing large-scale litigation, and meeting tight deadlines
- Experience in law firm practice as an Associate, Senior Associate or Sr Attorney preferred; prior class action experience is a strong plus
- Willingness to travel for depositions, hearings and trials as required
