Sheetmetal Mechanic
Position Overview
The Sheetmetal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products, primarily in HVAC systems. This role requires a keen understanding of blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precision in the construction and installation of ductwork and other metal components, while adhering to safety standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and installation procedures.
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products with precision, ensuring quality and accuracy in dimensions and fittings.
- Install ductwork and other HVAC components in residential and commercial settings, following industry standards.
- Perform welding operations on sheet metal components as required for installations and repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of installed systems to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with HVAC systems, providing effective solutions and repairs as needed.
- Operate various tools and machinery related to sheet metal work, adhering to safety procedures and protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree in HVAC or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a sheet metal mechanic or similar role in the HVAC industry.
- Strong skills in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficient in metalworking, ductwork installation, and welding techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Valid CT license for sheet metal work is required, must be able to travel frequently to surrounding areas.
