Key Responsibilities
- Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on comprehensive estate, trust, tax, and succession planning strategies.
- Draft and review sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and related wealth transfer instruments.
- Counsel clients regarding estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
- Handle trust and estate administration matters, including post-death planning and fiduciary guidance.
- Collaborate with clients' financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to develop customized wealth preservation strategies.
Qualifications / Nice to Have
Must Have
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active Illinois Bar membership in good standing.
- 5+ years of trusts and estates experience.
- Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Experience drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and sophisticated estate planning documents.
- Knowledge of federal and state estate, gift, and trust tax laws.
Nice to Have
- Estate and trust administration experience.
- Experience preparing or reviewing federal gift and estate tax returns.
- Experience advising closely held business owners on succession planning.
- Existing referral sources or business development experience.
Benefits
- Expected compensation generally ranging from $235,000 to $300,000+, depending on productivity, collections, and business origination.
- 15% origination compensation on collected revenue from originated business.
- Profit-sharing contributions, historically ranging from $10,000 to $28,000 annually.
- Two-year draw protection period for lateral Non-Equity Partner hires during practice integration.
