Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth and expand our commercial HVAC and facilities services footprint. This role will focus on identifying and qualifying opportunities across new construction, retrofit, service, and preventative maintenance contracts, promoting building automation and control solutions, and cultivating long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of HVAC systems and controls with proven sales and CRM-driven pipeline management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy to achieve revenue and margin goals across commercial HVAC, service, and facilities services.
- Prospect, identify, and qualify new business opportunities through cold outreach, referrals, networking, and industry events.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and proposal development to negotiation, closing, and project handover to operations.
- Prepare competitive proposals, scopes of work, and pricing for service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, controls, and building automation projects.
- Promote service offerings including preventative maintenance, emergency service, and long-term facilities services contracts to building owners, property managers, and facility engineers.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and technical teams to develop accurate scopes, budgets, and implementation plans.
- Maintain and update sales pipeline, account records, and activity reports in CRM systems (HubSpot and SalesForce).
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, market intelligence, and progress reports to leadership.
- Build and nurture relationships with clients, consultants, general contractors, and channel partners to generate repeat and referral business.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and local industry events to raise brand awareness and generate leads.
- Train and support internal teams on new offerings, proposals, and contract requirements to ensure smooth project transitions and high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience in the commercial HVAC, building automation, or facilities services sectors.
- Proven track record of winning service contracts, preventative maintenance programs, and controls/building automation projects.
- Strong skills in prospecting, lead generation, proposal writing, and contract negotiation.
- Technical understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and building automation solutions (controls, BAS, DDC).
- Experience working with CRM tools and pipeline management; proficiency with HubSpot and SalesForce preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare and present compelling commercial proposals and scope documents.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, job walks, and industry events; valid drivers license required.
- Relevant certifications (NATE, LEED, or HVAC controls certifications) are a plus.
