Senior Tax Manager - Corporate & High Net Worth
Join an established, growth-oriented CPA firm in Metro Detroit where a $155,000-$195,000+ base salary, high-impact client advisory, and a clear, supported path toward partnership await an experienced tax leader.
What you'll do
Own the review and sign-off on complex federal and state corporate returns (Forms 1120, 1120-S) and high-net-worth individual returns (Form 1040) involving investment portfolios, stock compensation, and closely held business interests.
Deliver proactive tax planning and advisory services that reduce liabilities and surface high-value opportunities for business owners, executives, and HNW families.
Serve as the primary client relationship manager for a sophisticated, multi-industry portfolio-translating complex tax issues into clear, actionable guidance.
Resolve multi-jurisdictional tax questions and produce technical memos to guide both internal teams and clients.
Mentor and evaluate tax staff and senior associates through real-time feedback, structured assignments, and active professional development support.
Partner with firm leadership on engagement economics (budgeting, billing) and business development initiatives.
Contribute to firm-wide practice management initiatives that support sustainable growth and service quality.
What you need
8+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a heavy focus on corporate and high-net-worth individual taxation.
Active CPA license.
Hands-on expertise reviewing Forms 1120, 1120-S, and complex Form 1040 returns.
Proficiency with tax preparation and research software like CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or Bloomberg Tax.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
Nice to have
Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or LL.M. in Taxation.
Experience with multi-state apportionment and nexus analysis.
Background in ownership transition planning or closely held business consulting.
Prior involvement in proposal development or client acquisition.

Base salary: $155,000-$195,000+ per year depending on experience, plus performance-based incentive compensation.
