Senior Tax Accountant - Corporate & Trust
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant specializing in corporate, partnership and trust taxation. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, ensuring regulatory compliance, delivering tax planning recommendations, and mentoring junior staff to support client needs and minimize tax exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Trust, C Corporation, S Corporation, and Partnership tax returns.
- Ensure all filings are accurate and compliant with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Calculate and prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments for trusts and corporate entities.
- Research tax issues and interpret tax laws to support ongoing compliance.
- Respond to tax-related correspondence and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Maintain the company's tax database and records to ensure accurate, organized documentation.
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, legal, shareholders, family members, and external advisors to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive tax experience
- Demonstrated expertise in trust, estate and personal income tax matters (required).
- Experience with corporate tax and partnership tax matters (nice to have).
- Strong accounting background and familiarity with accounting principles relevant to tax reporting (nice to have).
- CPA designation preferred or in-progress (nice to have).
- Proficient with tax preparation software, Microsoft Excel and research tools; experience with tax provision and accounting systems a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
